Short Progress Update, Anime Expo 2015
over 10 years ago – Sun, Jul 12, 2015 at 12:33:04 PM

Heya folks! Small update this time.

I'm currently making a ton of headway in the writing department with the newest route and general script polish. Coding for the new game interface is being done by my good friend Kyle at Unwonted Studios, so a big thank you to him and all his help! Geoff has been heading up the music department with some great new tracks - the game is looking and sounding fantastic!

AX2015: A limited edition print from Starlight Vega will be available at the Sekai Project booth. If you're attending, consider dropping by:

Though I wont personally be there, my co-writer Josh is manning the booths and has graciously agreed to sell them along with awesome prints from his own visual novel, The Human Reignition Project.

Which incidentally has launched on Kickstarter!

The Human Reignition Project is an ambitious indie visual novel, blending romance with futuristic sci-fi and thriller elements. But best of all there's a cast of beautiful girls who can be your waifu! The HRP team has worked tirelessly to craft this beautiful game, so please play the demo and consider becoming a backer.

Progress Update and New Lead Composer!
over 10 years ago – Mon, Jul 06, 2015 at 02:52:09 PM

Progress Report:

Time for the game progress report! In the art department I've drafted and inked seven new CGs so far. They aren't colored yet but hopefully they will be ready for previews in the coming updates.

Primary writing focus for me has been getting Scherza's route drafted and done, along with the planned harem addition on the side. I think the key to a nice story is revision, revision, revision so I'm crunching hard to get her main route completed- and I've gotta say - it's quite a story she's got!

My co-writer Josh has been working on Melody's route, writing additional date scenes and an almost confession scene. It's been very fun to be able to meet up in person and talk about the storyline with him.

New Lead Composer:

Everyone please welcome Geoff Moore as Starlight Vega's new lead composer!

“Hey everyone! I'm thrilled to have been selected as the main composer for Starlight Vega, it's a privilege to be involved with this beautiful game. Hope you enjoy the soundtrack!”

Geoff is a very talented composer and his enthusiasm for the project is quite contagious! He will be handling the majority of the soundtrack including the general background music, special character songs, and many of the emotional pieces that will heard throughout the game.

Plug:

Adapted from the E-Depth Angel webcomic series: "Pinocchio's Murder" is a visual Kickstarter with otome routes, cyberpunk elements, and a murder mystery!

I am completely thrilled with how the game is progressing. Being able to bring on such talented new members has been a dream come true. So again, THANK YOU FOR BACKING. It's because of you that I can have this amazing passionate team to bring you an even more polished game!

Thank You Wonderful Backers!
almost 11 years ago – Wed, May 27, 2015 at 02:56:38 PM

The campaign has ended at 988 backers strong and $22,264 - something I could never have dreamt possible!

Your support and enthusiasm for this game has touched my heart, thank you so much for believing in this project! Development is already in full swing and I hope my passion for this game and the beloved niche sub-genres it's in will clearly show in the final (now improved thanks to you!) version.

More updates will be coming soon through Kickstarter. You can also find me on my twitter, tumblr, and personal website as well!

Again thank you and I can't wait to share the rest of the way with you!

20k Goal! And One Day Left.
almost 11 years ago – Fri, May 22, 2015 at 09:34:43 PM

We blasted to the 20k goal and that's not even counting Paypal donations! Now the game can have more cut-ins, fun stuff, and art polish! Welcome aboard all our wonderful new backers joining us and I'd also like to thank the many of you upping your pledges as we head towards the finish line!

So, this is the real last stretch. It's the final 24 hour countdown as of posting this. I just wanted to say; amazing is an understatement! Giving this crazy little project of mine several awesome new additions, going above and beyond what polish the original goal would allow for... It's through your incredible support that we've made it this far.

Again thank you all so *so* much!

18k Goal! New Goals As We Approach The Finish Line
almost 11 years ago – Fri, May 22, 2015 at 11:55:29 AM

18k goal for epilogues and afterstories was reached! There's interesting themes you can explore that don't usually have time to get addressed in the main romance portion of the routes, so it's great to be able to put more content after the ending.

The game has has expanded so much with the previously funded stretch goals. A brand new romance route, additional endings, tons of new CGs, and now more afterstory content is available to play through. Because of these new additions the game can now be priced at $15 outside of Kickstarter, but the current $10 price is still available through Kickstarter.

We're finally hitting the final set of hours of the campaign. New final hours stretch goals were added!

I talked a bit in the last update about what would go into the most requested goal, the story expansion. For the next goal of $20k, I really wanted to add more art polish to increase the art quality level. The harem love scene is actually a bonus halfway point as the last goal, the story expansion, which is the most difficult to implement due to time spent reworking parts of the game itself.

Thanks everyone for being so involved and supportive of this campaign. It's been a wonderful experience being able to interact with you all, get your feedback, and work together in creating the best game we can.

Side note:

I'm also adding a small section on this KS in the artbook tier(s). It's just a few additional pages with behind the scenes about running this campaign, what I've found out in researching them, and some other stuff that will mostly interest someone really into Kickstarters or planning one of their own someday. (if not you can skip over it to the concept art/dev notes/illustration parts!)
